“Ringing” the Liberty Bell is their voice for the equal rights

On the afternoon of June 14, ACUA (American Chinese United Association) and American Chinese in Philadelphia jointly hosted a “Peace Meeting” on the theme of “opposing racial discrimination and calling for racial equality.” Although the “Peace Meeting” does not take the same shape as recent rallies that have taken place across the United States, its goals of equality and fairness for all ethnic groups are the same.

Chinese Americans also experience racial prejudice, as do the majority of ethnic groups in the U.S. Chinese people are also subjected to discrimination because of linguistic and cultural differences.

The rally’s main goal was to simply inform society that all races are equal rather than to incite social unrest.

Many overseas Chinese could not attend the conference because of COVID-19. Still, they worked hard behind the scenes to make the event successful, and the organizers gave them great appreciation and honor for their hard work.
