American Chinese United Association

Oregon American Chinese Roundtable Meeting for the preparation of the ACUA Oregon Chapter

On June 20, the ACUA (American Chinese United Association) General Assembly, Including the President of ACUA, Jason Lam, and others, flew to Portland, Oregon, to discuss the development of local Chinese businesses with local Chinese communities. In total, The meeting invited about 30 people to attend.

During the conference discussion, they all talked about their motivations for visiting Portland. In the mid-1900s, Portland became the second-largest city for Chinese immigration in American history. There, 90% of the regional railroads are produced by Chinese firms, and they have worked hard to make a wonderful community for future generations. The previous generation of Chinese or American Chinese in Portland and the rest of the region also had a lot of experience that they hope the future generation will learn and remember.

Even today, there are still several ancestral Chinese marks that the previous generations have left behind.

Last, during the speech, ACUA President Jason Lam expressed his hope that the general assembly and the chapter delegates would collaborate and work together to improve the rights of Chinese and Asians. And his hope for Chinese people to build a better home for the teens and the society.
