ACUA-MA meets with Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Candidate

ACUA Massachusetts Chapter hosted 2 panels with State Senator Eric Lesser on Aug 27th and Sep 2nd. Eric Lesser is running for Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts.

During the conversation with State Senator Lesser, ACUA MA Chapter President Jacky Xie(谢锋) alongside other local Community leaders introduced their concerns over Chinese-Americans’ participation in politics. Facing challenges including the COVID pandemic and Asian hate crimes, Chinese communities should actively involve in social work and protect deserved rights through elections. Participants also advocated for Chinese-Americans to integrate their votes and play a critical role as a “key minority group” during elections.

President Xie appraised the State Senator’s contributions to containing Asian hate crimes, establishing a fair market, and encouraging the development of small business. State Senator’s advocacy covers promoting the new energy industry, creating employment opportunities, lowering residents’ living expenses, and innovating professional education, which are all closely related to the Chinese community’s development.

President Xie has also introduced the ACUA’s purpose of concentrating the Chinese American community’s influence, advocating for Chinese American’s rights and benefits, and encouraging Chinese American to actively participate in politics.
