ACUA Florida Chapter Welcomed the Visit of Congresswomen Grace Meng

ACUA Florida Chapter co-hosted a party to welcome the visit of U.S. Congresswoman Grace Meng on Aug 20th. During the meeting, Congresswoman met local Chinese Community leaders.

Meng appreciated the Florida Chinese-American population’s steady support and points out the urgency to actively participate in politics. With more than 5.5 million population, the Chinese American community should pursue stronger social influence. The share of Chinese-American officials at Federal and State levels is still lower than the population ratio, reflecting the importance to encourage younger generation elites to focus on social work and represent the entire Chinese-American community.

Mrs. Meng also suggested that Chinese-American residents in Florida should actively register for voting. Local Chinese associations, in order to pursue a higher level of politics participation among the Chinese-American population, could provide more election-related lectures and voter registration services.

ACUA holds that all Chinese-background officials at Federal-level legislative branches are also representatives of the entire Chinese-American community despite their state of origin and party. ACUA and its chapters will not hesitate to support all of them according to the principles of integrating the Chinese-American population and pursuing common interests.
